Free Desk and Office Supplies at Corporate Front Office
We have rearranged the VPAS Front Office, and find that we have an extra computer desk left over that needs a home.
It is a narrow desk with shelves attached to the top, and a place to house your computer monitor as well. It is the type to be used against a wall as you would not be able to see over it should you seat yourself behind it.
In addition, should you need other odds and ends office supplies, please contact Pam at pam@vpas.info or 540-949-7141.
There are many things here that might be useful in your office space (hole punchers, staplers, document holders, mouse pads, tape dispensers, a variety!)
Planning Committee Meeting

The Committee is working on VPAS’ Strategic Plan.

Sept. 22 Article Reported VPAS Delivers More Meals Than Most
This article was printed in the News Leader on Thursday, Sept. 22.
The central and southern Valley’s public agency for services to seniors delivers more meals to homes than most other Virginia regions, including the far larger communities of metropolitan Richmond and the Norfolk-Virginia Beach area, a state report shows.
The Valley Program for Aging Services delivered meals to 872 people during fiscal year 2010, according to a report by William A. Hazel Jr., Virginia secretary of health and human resources.
The Valley program serves Augusta, Bath, Highland Rockbridge and Rockingham counties as well as the cities of Staunton, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg, Lexington and Buena Vista.
In contrast, the agency serving the cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth and Chesapeake served 737 people, while the agency for metro Richmond served 555 and reported 16 people who needed meals didn’t get any, and another 33 didn’t receive all the meals needed.
The Valley program reported no unserved or under-served people.
Only three agencies of the state’s 25 area agencies on aging served more people: Fairfax County, the Roanoke area and the region around Bristol.
Meals delivered by the Valley program cost $5.24 each, slightly above the state average.
Statewide, a total of 12,565 people receive home-delivered meals through the state’s area agencies on aging, at a total cost of $12.8 million.
A statewide total of 559 people who need meals aren’t getting them, and a total of 3,140 people don’t receive as many meals as they need, Hazel’s report showed.
