East Rockingham Senior Center: Extreme Snack Makeover Presentation at ERSC
Mrs. Garst offered bite sized brownies made with unsweetened applesauce instead of oil. She suggested that a healthier snack, as opposed to potato chips, would be hot air popped popcorn topped with spicy cheddar seasoning or garlic seasoning. She also provided a Greek yogurt ranch dip with veggies, substituting yogurt for the sour cream.
As members munched on the delicious snacks, Mrs. Garst also took time to meet with several persons on an individual basis to provide useful tips for managing their dietary concerns.
Mrs. Garst plans a return visit in November to discuss another nutrition topic. Till then, members hope to modify some of their favorite recipes using tips that were offered.
